About Us:
We are one of the pioneer lake associations in Sawyer Co., as well as N.W. Wisconsin. Since our formation we have become a tax-exempt quasi-educational lake organization with the intent on keeping Big Sissabagama one of the fine lakes in all of Wisconsin.
Our Mission:
To be the organization to ensure that Big Siss continues to be a fish-productive, clean, and premier recreational lake for the benefit of all users.
Our Goals
- Do our best as an association to educate all lake users on topics such as invasive species.
- Keep out foreign species from our lake!
- Monitor water clarity on an annual basis. Jim Nyberg & Bob Tiede personally monitor clarity of the lake each year. It is one of our most important functions.
- Educate all shoreowners on the effect of chemical and mineral run-off into the lake.
- Eliminate phosphorous fertilizer use on properties that border the lake.
- Encourage buffer zones along the shoreline to act as filtering agents.
- Encourage regular testing of septic tanks to ensure such systems are working properly.
- Encourage all owners to become members in the Association.
